Why We Do What We Do

The members of the Mesa City Band are dedicated to keeping the history and musical legacy of the community band in America alive and well.

To that end, the band performs a wide variety of music that was written specifically for concert bands. From Sousa marches to show tunes, the band enjoys a mixture of historic and contemporary music carefully selected to keep our audiences of all ages entertained and informed.

The band always provides a commentary about each selection so that the audience can capture some of the significance of the setting in which the music was originally composed. Then, under the careful preparation of our Director, we present the music in the musical tradition for which it was created.
